Isabel Leonard returns to The Met as Miranda in “The Tempest” (Oct 23)
After a highly successful summer at the Glyndebourne Festival as Cherubino in Le Nozze di Figaro, Isabel Leonard is set to return to The Metropolitan Opera as Miranda in the The Tempest on October 23. Composer Thomas Adès will make his conducting debut of his 2004 work. Robert Lepage, who recently wowed Met fans with his staging of Wagner’s Ring cycle and Berlioz’s The Damnation of Faust, brings his vision to this production of a very highly acclaimed contemporary opera that is still less than a decade old. The cast includes Audrey Luna, Lestyn Daviees, Alek Shrader, Alan Oke, William Burden, Toby Spence and Simon Keenlyside as Prospero. This will be the sixth production of The Tempest and the opera’s premiere at the Met, which is being co-produced with the Opéra de Québec and the Vienna Staatsoper. The Tempest will be performed on October 23, 27, 31; November 3, 6, 10, 14 and 17. Click here for tickets and more information.
