Spring events on the East Coast
Isabel Leonard performs at several events on the East Coast this spring, beginning as the featured artist at this season’s Orchestra of St. Luke’s Gift of Music Gala, under the direction of Pablo Heras-Casado. The event will be hosted at the historic Plaza Hotel on April 12, and is hosted by mezzo-soprano Susan Graham. Ms. Leonard will sing a Parlance Chamber Concert on April 23 with pianist Warren Jones, with a program that includes works by Berlioz, Massenet, Granados, and more at West Side Presbyterian Church in Ridgewood, NJ.
Following this performance, she stars as Zerlina in Mozart’s Don Giovanni at The Metropolitan Opera from April 26 through May 11. The starry cast also features Mariusz Kwiecien as the lecherous Don, with Erwin Schrott as Leporello, Angela Meade as Donna Anna, Marina Rebeka as Donna Elvira, and Matthew Polenzani as Don Ottavio.
“Isabel Leonard inhabited the role of the impudent, innocent Zerlina as thoroughly as Mr. Schrott did the Don, and the chemistry between them was sizzling. Her singing was fresh, effervescent and lovely.” (The New York Times)
Ms. Leonard is also a featured soloist in the Metropolitan Opera’s 50th Anniversary Gala at Lincoln Center on May 7. She sings a scene from The Tempest with tenor Ben Bliss; tickets & more info are available here.
