French masterpieces with the New York Philharmonic
This upcoming month, Isabel Leonard joins the New York Philharmonic for three concerts on March 5, 7 and 10 to sing, once again, Ravel’s exotic song cycle Shéhérazade at David Geffen Hall, with Louis Langrée on the podium.
Also on the program are Debussy’s Prélude à l’après-midi d’un faune, with shimmering sounds from the sinuous flute introduction to the final languorous chords, and Nocturnes’ vivid images of clouds, festivals, and seductive siren songs. Scriabin’s sensuous tone poem Le Poème de l’extase wraps up the evening.
