Washington National Opera debut in ‘La Cenerentola’
Isabel Leonard makes her house debut at Washington National Opera this month, as Angelina in Rossini’s effervescent comedy La Cenerentola, following her recent “triumph” in the role at the Bayerische Staatsoper. Ms. Leonard shares the stage with Maxim Mironov (Don Ramiro) and Paolo Bordogna (Don Magnifico), with Speranza Scappucci leading the WNO Orchestra. The production captures the lighthearted essence of the fairytale, with stage designs and direction by Joan Font, featuring his performance troupe Els Comediants. Performances take place May 9, 13, 16, 19 & 21 at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
The May 16 performance will be also broadcast live via the scoreboard at Nationals Park, for Washington National Opera’s annual ‘Opera in the Outfield’ event, which also includes special entertainment and activities throughout the stadium.
